On December 4, the City of Ottawa hosted its first public Open House to present progress of the Planning and Environmental Assessment Study currently underway for the Montreal - Blair Road Transit Priority Corridor. The well-attended event took the form of a drop-in session with graphics and related data presented on display boards, and the study team on hand to answer questions.
At this stage, the preferred solution for Montreal Road involves implementation of exclusive transit lanes from St. Laurent Blvd. to Shefford Road. Given its varying conditions and constraints, one approach under consideration is to consider Montreal Road by segments (Aviation Parkway to Bathgate, Bathgate to Blair, Blair Road to Ogilvie, etc.) in order to assess differing design configurations for transit lanes in each segment as appropriate. The preferred solution for Blair Road (south of Montreal Road) involves "isolated transit priority measures" at intersections, along with expansion of the active transportation network.
After presentation of current progress to the Urban Design Review Panel, the next step will be development of a Preliminary Design and Preliminary Recommended Plan. The RHPOA will continue to participate in Consultation Group Meetings. A second public OPEN HOUSE is expected in spring 2020.
